Melinda Moore Lampkin grew up on the west side of Detroit Michigan in a vibrant diverse neighborhood during the 1940s. She was introduced to the arts at an early age both at home and at school the love of books, music and dance all came together visually for her. Summers spent with grandmothers and Aunts in Alabama added the allure of quilt making to her creative process.
