Mason Fine Art upholds a 30-year tradition of showcasing a diverse selection of contemporary art, with a focus on Southern artists and a particular expertise in the work of self-taught artists. The gallery invites collectors, curators, consultants, and designers to visit its new location on Miami Circle, shared with the esteemed Marcia Wood Gallery. Owner Mark Karelson, a specialist in Folk and Outsider Art, leads the gallery. He has curated events for museums and institutions, including the Gantt Museum, and is currently the curator of "The John Lewis Series" by Benny Andrews, which is on exhibition at the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center in Madison, Georgia.
In 1990, Mark and Kim Karelson opened the Modern Primitive Gallery in Virginia Highlands, providing opportunities for artists who had historically been overlooked or marginalized by the mainstream art world. Many of these artists are now featured in some of the world's most significant museums. In the early 2000s, the gallery transitioned to Mason Murer Fine Art, located in the Armour-Ottley Loop. This 24,000 square-foot art space also served as a major event venue in Atlanta and was responsible for extraordinary exhibitions, including "Embrace: The Art Fair of The National Black Arts Festival." In the spring of 2015, Mason Fine Art opened its doors and continues to support and nurture the ever-evolving art community in Atlanta.
