Mason Fine Art continues a 30 year tradition of presenting a diverse selection of contemporary art with an emphasis on Southern artists and a special expertise in the art of self-taught artists. Mason Fine Art welcomes collectors, curators, consultants, and designers to our new location on Miami Circle, shared with the esteemed Marcia Wood Gallery. The Gallery is led by Owner, Mark Karelson, a specialist in Folk and Outsider Art. Mark has curated events for museums and institutions including the Gantt Museum. He is curator of The John Lewis Series by Benny Andrews, currently on exhibition at the Madison Morgan Cultural Center in Madison, Georgia.
In 1990, Mark and Kim Karelson opened Modern Primitive Gallery in Virginia Highlands. Modern Primitive Gallery gave opportunities to artists that had historically been ignored or marginalized by the mainstream art world. Many of these artists are now featured in the world’s most important museums. The gallery transitioned in the early 2000s to Mason Murer Fine Art located in the Armour Ottley Loop. This 24,000 square foot art gallery was also a major Atlanta event venue and the creator of extraordinary exhibitions including Embrace: The Art Fair of The National Black Arts Festival. In the Spring of 2015, Mason Fine Art opened its doors and continues to serve and foster the ever-evolving art community in Atlanta.
